Challenge

The City of Phoenix is seeking a modernized look on our Intranet and Internet solution to host mapping applications in a single location to create a better user experience for our internal and external users.

Background

GIS support in the City of Phoenix is federated versus a centralized model. Departments have the ability to develop mapping application to support their lines of business. Applications that are developed for internal or public consumption are placed in multiple site locations resulting in the inability to showcase mapping applications in a centralized location. The current location on phoenix.gov "Map IT" hosts a limited number of mapping applications that are identified as most visited and does not have a modernized look.

It is very difficult for users to locate mapping applications to support their needs. Many of the mapping applications are stored on departmental sites and buried under several links or sub-categories.

Requirements & Outcome

 1.     Revise our Internet and Intranet presence with a modernized look for hosting mapping applications in a single location to create a better user experience for our internal and external users.
