Challenge

The Long Beach Housing and Neighborhood Services is seeking a easy-to-use solution to streamline the monitoring of affordable housing restrictions and timelines for our City staff.

Background

We are interested in building something to help generate/automate/streamline monitoring of the over 7,200 recorded affordability covenants citywide and increase the accuracy of monitoring and improve overall rates of compliance. Currently, the covenants are monitored by a very small team, so the solution to this challenge would need to work with them to understand existing processes and workflows.

Requirements & Outcome

  • Migrate and modernize an existing Microsoft Access database
  • Track multiple databases
  • Sends staff notifications about upcoming deadlines
  • Integrates with other City databases (like code enforcement, building permits, etc.)
  • Ability to assign tasks for each property and run reports based on task status
