The Problem

City Innovate was first hired by the State of California’s California Department of Technology (CDT) – the agency that oversees and supports departments purchasing complex technology. A key finding from our initial CDT work was that state agencies typically use desktop applications to create documents for procurement, contracts, grants, and budgets. As a result, because desktop applications weren’t designed for enterprise-class collaboration, this work was often a ‘black box’.  It was impossible to see into the box and understand how many projects were in motion or where a specific project was on the path to completion.

Our Solution

Our approach to analytics and reporting is to provide CIOs, CPOs, Budget Directors, Administration Directors and agency leaders with the actionable analysis and reporting they need to identify bottlenecks and gain insight into where a particular procurement, contract, or grant is in the process.

Mission control for agency leaders

Visual reports allow agency leaders to see and understand exactly where a particular project is in its path to completion.

Provides a single source of truth

When procurement, contracts, grants, and budget documents are created in desktop applications, reports require combing through shared drives and compiling information by hand.  City Innovate replaces manual reports with automatic, real time metrics that are always up-to-date and available online anytime.

Greater accountability

Drill-down reporting allows agency leaders to see and understand the tasks assigned to subject-matter experts and other contributors, to better pinpoint sources of delay.
